School is almost out for the summer and one elementary school in Davis School District is being honored for their dedication to a year of kindness.
Foxboro Elementary was officially named a Certified School of Kindness. Utah’s First Lady Abby Cox came to the school to congratulate the children on their amazing achievement and remind them about always being kind to everyone.
Each week the school participated in kindness challenges. With 36 weeks in a school year and 500 students and staff being kind, that equals over 18,000 acts of kindness.
One Kind Act A Day Organization, the PTA and the First Lady presented the school with a Certified School of Kindness Proclamation. Students, teachers, and administrators say being kind creates a culture of happiness, peace and safety.
Back in 2023, Foxboro Elementary also received a ResilientYOU Education Tribute Award and was named an "Outstanding Elementary School in Utah." That award is presented each year to a school in the State of Utah that has shown exemplary efforts in building resilience.
ResilientYOU is a nonprofit organization formed to teach young children resiliency skills. Its website offers free resources for teachers and parents with the goal of getting kids and adults talking about the difficult things they may be dealing with and how to react.
